Cook Legacy intake systems are not debris handling devices.  They have none of the operating costs associated with mechanical screens, such as motors, maintenance, clean-up, and debris shipment.

Cook Legacy develops environmentally safe intake systems.  The EPA Specifies fine-mesh wedgewire screen as a technology based solution for EPA 316(b) compliance.  Passive screen technology was developed by Lee Cook in response to early fish protection regulations and clogging concerns.  Cook Legacy intake systems employ fine slot width and flow modification to exclude aquatic organisms and other debris.

Other screening technologies require complex mechanical systems Cook Legacy intake screens can be completely submerged and positioned in a variety of locations, such as offshore or even in a bulkhead at the end of existing vertical traveling screen canals.
