Coanda
screens are tilted profile wire bar screens. The shape of the screens
allows the screens to remain clean with little or no mechanical
cleaning. The operation is enhanced by the Coanda Effect as the screens
catch only the bottom layer of water. The tilted profile wires of the
Coanda Screen slice off thin layers of water, allowing debris and fish
to pass safely over the screen as water falls through the screen.
Some benefits to using a Coanda screen for
and intake system:
a) The screens are low maintenance and have no moving parts. This lowers plant operating cost.
b) The screens require limited civil structure and no power supply. This lowers capital cost and allows install in remote areas.
c) The screens remove debris, eliminating the need for downstream secondary filtration or sedimentation basins.
d) The screens allow fish bypass avoiding waterway habitat destruction.
